Tanya lives in Kryvyi Rih an industrial town in Dnipropetrovsk region in the south east of Ukraine. In of itself this had no particular bearing on the book. But that changed from February 24th. Since the invasion of Ukraine there has been a huge deterioration in safety and security of its citizens. Contact with Tanya has been sporadic, and while she and her family (her son is at uni in Lviv, and she, her husband and six cats are in Kryvyi Rih) are currently relatively safe, her town is right on the front line. Their world has been totally upended and her circumstances could change at any moment.

A portion of the sale of these books will go to children’s charity (UNICEF’s Ukraine Emergency Appeal) in Ukraine since we know they have been doing a lot of work helping children affected by the conflict.
